These hills used to be forests at Northern Lights Project, Derry

Experience an evening of pioneering contemporary music as Hard Rain SoloistEnsemble presents landmark
solo works by Pierre Boulez, alongside a programme of compelling ensemble pieces.

Anthèmes 2 (1997), for violin and live electronics, is a virtuosic and immersive exploration of space and sound.
Performed by violinist Darragh Morgan, the work demonstrates Boulez’s masterful synthesis of acoustic
performance and electronic manipulation, enveloping the listener in a dynamic, multidimensional sonic
landscape. Equally captivating is Dialogue de l’ombre double (1984), a dramatic work for clarinet and tape performed
by clarinettist Sarah Watts. Structured as a theatrical dialogue between the live performer and a pre-recorded
electronic counterpart, it is a profound meditation on memory, echo and identity.
