Creating Ecological Soundwalks Through an Enmeshed Ecoacoustic Practice
The thesis covers the development of my place-based ecological practice in recent years. Involving long-term ecoacoustic engagement, field recording and listening practices on a selection of study sites, it also integrates Deep Ecology philosophy as a means to challenge our human focused perspectives.
My ecological soundwalks became the chief creative output of this process, allowing audiences to explore the varied voices of Irish biodiversity, and how we can build awareness of the nonhuman world through sound.
My portfolio of 7 soundwalks and 2 concert works are also available to download, as well as a repository of field recordings from my core study sites of the Vale of Clara in Wicklow, Glas-na-Bradan Wood in the Belfast Hills and the Botanic Gardens, Belfast.
A more comprehensive overview is available through the link too.
